Letter from the President:
I look forward to serving the Chapter with whom you send via your vote to lead the SNMSHRM Chapter for 2014. Thank you for your support in the last several months! I look forward to seeing you at the next Chapter Meeting, and I highly encourage you to vote either at the meeting or by proxy. Please pay attention to the emails that are sent out regarding the election.
Esteemed Friends and Colleagues,
Thank you for the support you have given me in the past months as I assumed the role of President of SNMSHRM. Thanks to your valuable feedback and the hard work of the existing Board, I have learned many valuable lessons that will help me shape our upcoming year toward growth and success.
In particular, I am gaining an increased focus on the use of our Webpage and in particular the Affiniscape (Your Membership.com) services that support email communication to the membership. It did take some time for me to comprehend the expertise that this program has afforded the Chapter. We will be looking at and comparing Affiniscape web services to the product that SHRM offers to Chapters for web related coordination of services and communication. A decision will be made by April, 2014 to either continue with the present program or transition to another viable alternative.
Most importantly, the focus on Monthly Meetings is my highest priority. I have learned valuable lessons regarding what qualifies for HRCI continuing education hours, and will pay specific attention to the needs of our members in this regard. I will work closely with the 2014 President-Elect such that the speakers and topics will bring a majority of our members to the Meetings. I believe that increased involvement from members at Meetings will then foster greater involvement in Chapter activities and functions. Your greatest individual contribution to SNMSHRM is your voice to guide our future which we hope to facilitate through the Monthly Meetings and through regular electronic communication.
I have been grateful to serve as your President, fulfilling the tenure of President Mary Fiskum. I will continue to learn and grow the capacity of this office for 2014 such that your needs are met and our Chapter has value-added activities. Focus will also be on a strong relationship with the NMSU Student SHRM Chapter which we did assist this year, as well as activity within the Workforce Development arena in the Las Cruces area. Also, a priority of the present Board of Directors will be to continue reinvestment of our funds into our membership in the form of attendance at State and National Conference, assistance with dues in exchange for volunteer activity, or other such benefits.
